Close Family Friend Speaks Out About Shawnee Murder Victim
SHAWNEE, Oklahoma - More than a week after a father of four is stabbed to death in Shawnee, a close family friend is speaking out. She says there's more to the story than what's being reported to police and she and the family are looking for answers.
Details in the police report are hard to believe for family and close friends of 41-year-old Keith Knight. According to the report, Keith was stabbed to death by another man after allegedly punching a woman. But, those who know Keith don't believe it.
“He would never ever hit a woman, ever. He didn't even raise his voice. He was married for 20-something years, and never even hit his wife,” said the family friend.
That's the kind of man this family says Knight was. A gentleman, an active church member, a little league basketball coach, and a loving father.
“He was murdered, which I can't believe I'm even saying that. It's not even real,” she said.
The close friend of the family, who does not want to reveal her identity to protect Keith's children, says what happened at a Shawnee apartment complex on Father's Day still isn't clear.
“It was Father's Day. His children were his world. They meant everything to him. There was no way that he would not have been there,” she said.
According to police, Keith and a female friend were coming from a bar and ended up at the Cimarron Terrace Apartments. Nearly a week later, the family has a lot of questions.
Shawnee police say when they arrived to the complex, Keith was dead at the top of the stairs after being stabbed multiple times.
“His daughter texted me at 4:30 Sunday afternoon and asked me if I had heard from him, and immediately I knew something wasn't right.”
The last time she had heard from Keith was Saturday morning.
“I was thinking maybe a car wreck or something of that magnitude. There was no reason why anybody would hurt him. None.”
News 9 has reached out to Shawnee police on this case, but hasn't gotten much information.
As far as we know, no arrests have been made.
