The latest series of minor earthquakes that rocked the metro area this past weekend has state agencies working overtime to figure out the cause.

Oklahoma Corporation Commission spokesman Matt Skinner says there were at least 14 recorded quakes in southern Logan and northern Oklahoma counties. But he says there's an issue that perplexes seismologists.

He says the kind of deep or high-volume oil and gas disposal wells suspected of being the cause, are practically non-existent in the area.

“We are working with the seismologists very closely. They are working into the wee hours of the morning, they are trying to make sure no stone goes unturned,” Skinner said.

Skinner says the oil and gas companies involved are being “very cooperative,” with the investigation.
