OSBI agents traveled to Texas to arrest a suspect in a 2006 homicide case, Tuesday.

Agents located and arrested Howard Shelton Mason Jr., 55, in El Paso for the murder of 77-year-old Burney Ray Bounds.

In October of 2006, Bounds' body was discovered by a friend at Bounds' home at 10569 214th Street, Blanchard, Oklahoma. The investigation revealed Bounds' home was ransacked and the victim was tied up. Bounds' cause of death was ruled a homicide.

Despite leads the case went cold. But in the past 18 months, OSBI expanded the investigation. In January 2015, an agent was able to identify evidence pointing to Mason.

OSBI agents with the assistance of the Texas Rangers arrested Mason at a halfway house in El Paso. Mason was on parole in Texas for failure to register.

Mason is being held in the El Paso County Jail where he is awaits extradition to Oklahoma.
