Oklahoma City police are searching for two men believed responsible for a violent home invasion near NW 12th and Ann Arbor.

Police say a man who lived in the home was shot in front of his wife and teenage son. The man, identified as Charles Sullivan, 59, was just released from the hospital Tuesday afternoon.

A family member told News 9 he was shot twice in the leg during a struggle with one of the suspects inside his home.

As the police helicopter hovered overhead, officers on the ground searched for the people responsible for the ambush. They looked in yards and shut down neighboring streets to try to catch the crooks, who managed to slip away.

The only description police have is that they were two Hispanic males in their mid-twenties dressed entirely in black.

Daylight on Tuesday revealed a completely different scene; a quiet street where several members of one family call home and where neighbors try to watch out for one another. But sometimes even that is not enough.

"My girlfriend, she was outside smoking a cigarette out back and she just came in the house and that's when I saw the cop cars," said one neighbor who did not want to be identified.

That neighbor told News 9 he's lived along this street for 12 years and said they rarely have any problems here. But he said he keeps his dogs and guns around for protection just in case. He said he even helped police search his yard for the people responsible for attacking his neighbor.

Police said the suspects demanded cash of the homeowner before they shot him. The family runs a daycare out of the house where the home invasion happened. It is closed while police search for the people who targeted this family.

Police say tips can go to their Crime Stoppers line at (405) 235-7300.
