An arrest warrant has been issued for a suspect caught on camera smashing a beer mug over another man's head at a local bar early in February.

According to police, at about 1 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, officers responded to the report of someone being hit with a beer mug at Dust Bowl, located at 420 W. Park Place.

The victim told police he went to the restroom when the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Andrew Lake, followed him and started “talking crap”. The victim said he tried to ignore Lake, but Lake threw water on him and left the restroom with another man, identified as Samuel Hogan.

The victim said he went out of the restroom to confront Lake and Hogan. He said when he tried to push past the two, he and Hogan began to wrestle. While the two were wrestling, Lake unloaded on the victim, sucker punching him in the head with a beer mug, causing the mug to shatter.

Both Lake and Hogan had fled the scene before police arrived, but cell phone footage of the incident was captured.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he received four stitches to a laceration on his head due to the blow from the shattered mug.

On Tuesday police issued a warrant to arrest Lake on one count of Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.
