An Oklahoma City man was arrested after police said he attacked a woman and her 7-year-old son Sunday afternoon.

According to police, at about 3:20 p.m. officers responded to the incident in the 500 block of S.W. 59th Street. A woman called police to report that a man without a shirt spanked her son. She said the man also ran into her home and choked her.

When officers arrived at the scene, they spoke with the suspect, later identified as 47-year-old Willie Joe Peevy. Peevy told police that he became upset with his neighbor's child, because the child was bouncing a ball off of his window.

The woman said she started screaming at Peevy when he attacked her son. That's when Peevy came over to her home and started choking her. Police said Peevy entered the victim's home through the front door, which was closed before the child ran inside.

Officers attempted to place Peevy in their patrol car. However, police said Peevy resisted arrest and tried to get away. Officers said they had to use maximal restraints to get Peevy under control.

Eventually, officers were able to take Peevy into custody. He was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on multiple complaints, including first-degree burglary, child abuse, assault and battery, and resisting.
