An attempted burglary on the far east side of Oklahoma City led to shots being fired at the burglars' vehicle and a woman shot in the leg, according to police.

Oklahoma City police were called Friday morning to the 15400 block of E. Hefner Road. The homeowner told police his home had been burglarized Thursday and he thought his home was being burglarized again by the same people, Police Staff Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow said.

The homeowner told police he confronted the two male suspects, and one of the burglars pulled a knife on him. The homeowner shot multiple times at the burglars' vehicle and the two ran away, Wardlow said.

The suspect vehicle traveled about a block away and stalled out. Officers arrested the two suspects.

About the same time, a woman at Britton Road and N. Indian Meridian called police and said she had been shot in the leg. Oklahoma City police officers think this gunshot victim is related to the attempted burglary.

The woman was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.
