A metro man has a massive stroke then, finds himself helpless and partially paralyzed on his bathroom floor.

A co-worker noticed he was unusually late for work one morning, and sent someone to check on him.

The family said that saved his life.

Scott Waits, 48, has worked for Crest Foods for nearly 30 years and had never missed a day, until his open heart surgery last year.

Late last month when Scott didn't show up on time, it raised a number of red flags.

“There are some days that you'll never forget,” said Waits.

Waits life has been turned upside down, and for him, the past month has been a struggle.

“Still can't walk because I'm paralyzed on my left side,” said Waits. “Can't use my left arm, can't use my left leg.”

But things could have been a lot worse, if it wasn't for his long-time boss David Judd.

The two have known each other for decades.

“Scott shows up at 7:00 a.m. every day. About 7:40, he wasn't there yet. I called him and got no response, text him, got no response,” said Judd.

David had a strong feeling something wasn't right, so he quickly sent a worker over to Scott's home in Midwest City.

“The dogs were going crazy in the house,” said Judd. “Scott has two Rottweiler's.”

Midwest City Police arrived and found Scott on the floor of his bathroom barely conscious.

“He had been down about 30 to 45 minutes when they found him,” said Judd.

“If it had happened the day before, I wouldn't even be talking to you because I would be gone,” said Waits.

Scott said since he doesn't work weekends, no one would have been looking for him.

“I had an 80-percent change of dying,” said Waits.

Scott has been recovering at the Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation Center on the south side.

“We're just hopeful he pulls through this,” said Judd.

Scott will be heading to another rehabilitation center this Friday for outpatient care.
