Wednesday's winter storm still looks like a doozy for the entire state. All types of precipitation will be possible throughout the day with quick changes expected mainly during the morning.

By Wednesday afternoon, most of us are seeing snow. We're still trying to figure out when the transition between sleet and snow will take place. Check the maps for more details. There's a few to click through and hopefully they're as straight forward as possible.

First and foremost, we don't make school closing decisions and Wednesday will be a hard one to make, as the roads likely won't be at their worst until the afternoon.

Roads look like they'll be bad Thursday morning as well. Just keep your eye on News9.com, and we'll have them scrolling across the bottom of the screen once decisions are made.

Tuesday evening into the night, expect primarily light drizzle and/or rain. Northwest Oklahoma will start a transition to sleet and snow just after midnight. As the morning goes along, the cold air will keep moving south and start to chance the precipitation from a drizzle/rain to a freezing drizzle/rain.

The ice shouldn't last long along and northwest of the I-44. It will quickly change to sleet during the morning as the cold air gets deeper above the surface. Southern Oklahoma will see ice a lot longer into the morning.

Road conditions will start going downhill just after sunrise in OKC.

We're currently thinking around lunch time will be the time the sleet transitions to all snow in central Oklahoma, including OKC. That timing may fluctuate a bit, but that's the current thinking.

As we head further into the afternoon, the snow will continue and the strong north winds will lower visibility as the snow turns into blowing snow. Roads will already be bad from the morning ice and sleet and will keep getting worse as the snow picks up during the afternoon.

The snow will taper off late Wednesday evening into the night from northwest to southeast. Amounts are still a bit up in the air, especially depending on how much sleet we receive, but our current thinking is around 2 to 4 inches in OKC, slightly less in the northwest, and more in eastern Oklahoma.

Southeast Oklahoma will pick up the most ice as the cold air will be slower to move into that part of the state.

It's a longer read, but hopefully it helps inform you a bit more. David Payne? will have more tonight at 10 p.m. News 9?. I'll have more updates here tonight and tomorrow as the event gets going.
