A veterans group from Texas joined forces with a metro distillery to produce a unique brand of whiskey. It's called ‘Leadslingers,' and it has quite a back story.

The veterans group called itself ‘Article 15.'

They operate out of El Paso, and for the past year, they've gained enormous popularity selling unique pieces of veteran-themed clothing. Moore, Oklahoma-based Scissortail Distillery recently worked with Article 15, and came up with ‘Leadslinger's Whiskey.'

Jarred Taylor is one of four veterans who formed Article 15.

“We use our fame and popularity that we have garnered to help those organizations out there that are making huge strides in preventing veteran suicides and veteran issues,” he told us from El Paso Friday night.

The group donates one percent of their quarterly profits to worthy veterans' causes. Last year Taylor said that was more than $150,000.

Scissortail Owner Garrett Janko said he collaborated with Taylor's group because he said he knows they are doing a lot of good in the veteran community. “It kind of just honors everyone who has put on a uniform,” he said.

Janko said he expects to produce 400,000 bottles of Leadslingers Whiskey in 2015.

They said they are shooting for a million bottles in 2016.
