Wow! What a Wednesday across the Sooner state and Oklahoma City. A 122-year-old record was broken with a high temperature of 79 degrees. The old record was back in 1893 of 78 degrees.

Oklahoma City has been taking records since November 1890. It's pretty incredible stuff and pretty incredible weather to start the week off with three days of record highs.

But, good things eventually have to come to an end. As the very warm temperatures fade away with a cold front overnight. Wednesday evening, the front will come sliding in from the northwest with a north wind taking over. Overnight, temperatures will fall into the 40s under north winds 10-20 mph.

Thursday, will continue with the sunshine but under cooler temperatures with highs only reaching into the 50s. Winds will be strong at time out of the north at 15-25mph with gusts near 35mph.

These winds along with the drier conditions will continue to produce very high fire threat across the area.

On Friday, there will increasing clouds under east to southeast winds 10-15mph as the next weather moves in from the west. This storm system will give the state a good chance of rain on Saturday.

Rainfall amounts could be pretty light from .25” to .75” across southern Oklahoma but any precipitation in January is good.
