On the 14th anniversary of that deadly plane crash, the Oklahoma State community banded together to watch the Cowboys host Baylor in Gallagher-Iba Arena.

The Pokes didn't disappoint.

OSU played perhaps its best 40 minutes of the season in a convincing and dominating 64-53 win over the No. 20 Bears.

Oklahoma State, which entered Tuesday's game having lost three of four, brought a much higher energy level against Baylor. The Cowboys swarmed to the ball all night and attacked the glass as a unit. OSU held Baylor's much-bigger front line of Rico Gathers, Royce O'Neale and Johnathan Motley to just 16 total points on 4-of-16 shooting.

A big factor in that was Cowboy center Michael Cobbins, who grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds and matched a season high with five blocks while battling the 280-pound Gathers. Le'Bryan Nash also helped out inside with 13 points and six rebounds.

OSU also got big lifts from Tavarius Shine, Anthony Hickey and Jeff Newberry. Shine drilled all three 3-pointers he tried off the Pokes' bench and led the second unit with 11 points. Hickey, after scoring just three combined points in his previous two games, added eight points and 10 assists. Newberry added a much-needed 10 points and four rebounds.

It was a happy ending for the Cowboys but things didn't start that way. Baylor used an 11-0 run to take a 13-6 lead in the first seven minutes. But back to back 3-balls by Forte and Hickey brought the Pokes back in it and they never looked back. The Cowboys used a 7-2 run to close the first half and took a nine-point lead into the break.

Baylor kept the game within arm's reach, but OSU drilled all six of its free throws down the stretch to keep the Bears at bay.

Gathers led Baylor with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Lester Medford added 13 points while Taurean Prince chipped in 12 points and nine boards.

Oklahoma State (14-6, 4-4) earned its second win this season over a ranked opponent. The Cowboys are back at it against Oklahoma on Saturday in Stillwater. Baylor (15-5, 3-4) host No. 19 Texas on Saturday.
