Turns out taking your kids out of school for a family vacation is a hot button issue for a lot of you. I say it's okay occasionally as long as the kids keep up with their school work.
Here's what you had to say.
Cindi first: "If it isn't done more than once in a given year, the child is making good grades, and the homework is made up in a timely fashion, I see nothing wrong with it."
Amanda in Midwest City: "I wouldn't take my kid out of school for a vacation. To me, that's not a example of school coming first."
Jill writes: "We do every year. My husband is a children's minister so our summers are filled with camps!!
Never had a problem until high school, they don't like it. I don't care."
From Shawnda: "My Grandpa used to sign my cousin & I out of school for "Nature Study". We went to our lake house at Eufaula!"
Pamela in Mustang: "Our folks scheduled vacations & visits when school was out. Emphasis was always stressed on education."
Jennifer says: "It's totally ok! Family first!"
Finally from Ashley: "As a teacher, it's a pain, and kids do miss valuable class time. As a person whose parents used to take her out of school every February to go skiing, I say....WOO HOO!!"
