A topic Robin and Lacie discussed Thursday on the 4 p.m. show has News 9's Kelly Ogle thinking.

If you're a parent, have you noticed it's getting harder and harder to carve out vacation time for your family?

The summers fill up with the kids working summer jobs, playing sports or going to a camp. So, more and more parents pulling their kids out of class for a few days to take vacations.

One woman did it in another state and had her child's absence labeled as "illegal."

Kelly Ogle said he's taken his kids out a day or two on the back end of a family vacation. His family has done it only with the knowledge that they're making good grades and they're all caught up on their school work. And also, notified the teachers to let them know that they didn't need to do anything extra to help the students for work they missed, it was up to them to stay on top of it.

“I think there's a lot of value in families taking trips together, it's a chance to reconnect. And students from strong families typically do better in school. I don't think you should make a habit of taking your kids out, but on occasion I think it's ok”.

So what do you think, is it ok to take your child out of school for a family vacation or is it too disruptive?
