The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported an earthquake near Cherokee Monday evening.
The 3.1 magnitude quake shook the area 12 miles east of Cherokee and 28 miles north, northwest of Enid at 6:25 p.m., according to the USGS.
The earthquake was more than three miles deep.
There are no reports of major injury or damage at this time.
According to the USGS, earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely from quakes at a 4.0 magnitude and higher.
