Crews Continue To Monitor Hot Spots Following Large Wildfire In Logan Co.

Crews kept busy monitoring hot spots after fire scorched more than 1,000 acres in Logan County. At one point, Interstate 35 was shut down as flames came dangerously close to the interstate.

Overnight, several fire departments kept a watchful eye out here for any hot spots.

Jim Gardner and Bob Mills SkyNews 9 HD were the first over the scene of these fires that broke out just before 1 p.m. Sunday. Several structures and a few homes were destroyed.

At this point, fire crews say at least 2,000 acres have burned. The good thing is no one was hurt in all this.

But for local farmers, the damage has been done.

"Time of year, the grass is dry and low humidity you're going to have a fire some place," said Larry Miller, whose land was burned in the fire.

"We'll just have to pray for a whole lot of rain. We'll have to work on getting the hay and making sure the cows are taken care of," Barbara Tooley said.

The Tooleys said they'll have to start from scratch with all their hay gone at $45 a bale, making it more than a $4,000 loss.
