Seven different players scored goals as the Rochester Americans erased a 7-5 Oklahoma City lead in the final 2:13 of regulation and defeated the Barons 8-7 in a shootout Sunday at Cox Convention Center.

After pulling goalie Andrey Makarov in favor of a sixth skater with less than three minutes remaining in the third period, Rochester shrunk the Barons lead to 7-6 at 17:47 of the frame when Zac Dalpe sent a steep-angle shot from the right side of the Oklahoma City net that elevated onto the back of Barons goaltender Laurent Brossoit and trickled into the net.

Twelve seconds later, Rochester's Joel Armia tied the game at seven when he grabbed the rebound of a Dan Catenacci shot in the right circle and flipped the puck past Brossoit to force what was a scoreless overtime and eventual shootout.

In the bottom of the fourth round of a scoreless shootout, Dalpe beat Brossoit with a shot through the goalie's legs to secure the win for the Americans.

Iiro Pakarinen netted two goals, and Martin Marincin and Brad Hunt each registered two assists for Oklahoma City, while Chad Ruhwedel, Mikhail Grigorenko and Johan Larsson each had two assists for the Americans.

The 7-7 regulation score marked the first time the Barons have scored seven goals since a 7-4 win at Texas on Feb. 2, 2014 and given up seven goals since a 7-2 loss to Texas at home on Dec. 21, 2013.

Rochester opened the game's scoring at 3:11 of the first period when Brodie Reid sent a pass toward the Barons net that Matt Tassone chipped past Brossoit.

Pakarinen tied the affair at one goal apiece at the 6:34 mark of the first when he took a backdoor pass through the crease from Andrew Miller and redirected the puck behind Rochester goalie Andrey Makarov.

On the power play at 10:23 of the first, Larsson sent a shot from the point that Tim Schaller deflected past Brossoit to give the Americans a 2-1 lead.

The Barons once again tied the game 17:48 of the first when Jujhar Khaira worked the puck to the high slot of the Americans zone and sent a shot around a defending Jerome Leduc that went over the glove side of Makarov.

Early in the second period, the game's seesaw nature continued as the Americans retook the lead at 3-2 when William Carrier flipped a centering pass to the front of the Barons net where Catenacci chipped the puck through the pads of Brossoit.

At 14:03 of the second, Oklahoma City knotted the game for a third time when Kellen Jones took a pass from his twin brother Connor Jones and maneuvered around Rochester's Brady Austin before firing a shot through the pads of Makarov.

The Barons grabbed their first lead of the game in the final second of the second period when, following a Matt Ford faceoff win in the Americans zone, Brad Hunt sent a shot on net that caromed off Makarov and right to Curtis Hamilton, who pushed the puck under the Rochester goalie as time expired. Official replay confirmed the puck had crossed the line prior to the end of the period, giving the Barons a 4-3 lead. The goal came on the power play with Rochester's Jake McCabe serving a double minor for high-sticking.

Following a penalty at 3:28 to Oklahoma City's Martin Marincin for delay of game, the Americans tied the game on the power play at 5:01 when Larsson sent a give-and-go pass to Dalpe who returned the puck in front of the Barons net where Larsson put it around Brossoit to make it a 4-4 game.

Oklahoma City regained its lead at 8:04 of the third, when Matt Ford grabbed his own rebound in the middle of several skaters in front of the Barons net and backhanded the puck past a sprawling Makarov.

Thirty-four seconds later, Pakarinen tallied his second goal of the game when he took a Brad Hunt pass in the left circle and flipped a wrist shot over the outstretched glove of Makarov for a 6-4 Barons lead.

Rochester cut the Oklahoma City lead to 6-5 when Armia found Carrier alone in front of the Barons net, where Carrier beat Brossoit at 9:44 of the frame.

Despite failing to score on all but one of their previous eight power play chances in the game, the Barons capitalized on their final power play opportunity with the Americans' Drew Bagnall serving a minor for delay of game at 11:50 of the third. With the advantage, Oklahoma City's Steve Pinizzotto took a Marincin pass behind the Rochester net and sent a behind-the-back pass to the front of the net where Bogdan Yakimov lifted a shot over the glove of Makarov to give the Barons a 7-5 lead before the late goals by Dalpe and Armia tied the game to force overtime and the eventual shootout.

The shootout defeat marked the third loss in the last four decisions for Brossoit, who had previously won six consecutive starts.

Oklahoma City outshot Rochester 48-34 on the game, holding a 30-13 edge after two periods.

The Barons' next game is Thursday, Jan. 22, when the team travels to Charlotte, N.C. for 6 p.m. CST start in the first of a two-game series against the Checkers at Time Warner Cable Arena.
