4.0 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Up Central Oklahoma

Residents in Central Oklahoma were jolted by a 4.0 earthquake that struck near Guthrie, in Logan County, Wednesday afternoon.

Residents in Central Oklahoma were jolted by a 4.0 earthquake that struck near Guthrie, in Logan County, Wednesday afternoon.

The quake was recorded at 1:41 p.m., three miles south southwest of Guthrie, or about 25 miles north of the Oklahoma City metro, at a depth of three miles.

Several viewers reached out to News 9, through e-mail and social media, reporting to have felt the shaking

So far there have been no reports of damage or injuries associated with this quake.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely with quakes at magnitudes of 4.0 and higher.
