The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported an earthquake near Cherokee Saturday.

The 3.0 magnitude quake was reported at 12:28 p.m. eight miles north, northeast of Cherokee and 38 miles northwest of Enid, according to the USGS.

The USGS said the earthquake was nearly four miles deep.

There are no reports of major injury or damage at this time.

According to the USGS, earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely from quakes at a 4.0 magnitude and higher.
