USGS: Two Morning Earthquakes Near Medford

A little after 6 a.m. Saturday, an earthquake shook up residents near Medford, OK., in Grant County. Then, a second quake struck the same area just before 11 a.m.

The first, a 3.3 magnitude earthquake was located four miles west of Medford, 27 miles north of Enid, and about 40 miles west of Ponca City, Oklahoma.

The second, a 3.2 magnitude earthquake was located 12 miles south southeast of Medford, 21 miles northeast of Enid, and 30 miles west of Ponca City, Oklahoma.

There have been no reports of damage or injuries associated with either quake.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely with quakes at magnitudes 4.0 and higher.
