I have to admit I was seriously taken aback that five St. Louis Rams players decided to bring the Ferguson Missouri protest to the field yesterday before their game with Oakland.

The players came out of the tunnel raising their hands in what has become known in recent weeks as the "hands up, don't shoot" gesture that was the original battle cry of Ferguson protesters, and the alleged position that Mike Brown had taken when he was shot by a white officer.

Even though the grand jury says it didn't happen that way, the players, role models for some, perpetuated that version of the story and deeply offended the police officers of the St. Louis area and I don't blame them for being upset.

They wanted the league or the Rams organization to discipline the players, both said no.

Either could have fined or suspended the players, but decided they had the freedom to express their opinion.

I agree with that decision despite disagreeing with the statement the players were making.

Now it'll be interesting to see how this plays out with the fans who buy the tickets and the St. Louis police officers who protect that stadium.

I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
