Instant Analysis: Rudolph Shines But Baylor Cruises

Oklahoma State lost a hard-fought contest 49-28 at Baylor on Saturday night. Here's some instant analysis, stick around for a full game recap.

What went well:

OSU's much-maligned offensive line put up its best performance in weeks. They protected freshman quarterback Mason Rudolph well and paved the way for 148 rushing yards. It wasn't stellar, but it allowed Rudolph a chance to prove himself. Speaking of Rudolph…the kid was excellent. Making his first career start in the place of the injured Daxx Garman, Rudolph played like a seasoned vet. It's only one game, but Rudolph's performance gives Cowboy fans a reason to be encouraged.

What didn't:

The start of the game was brutal. Baylor came out and scored 14 points in only five offensive plays and buried the Cowboys in a deep hole. OSU actually played the Bears pretty evenly from that point on, but it was the first three minutes that doomed the Pokes.

OSU game ball:

Rudolph is a no-brainer here. He threw for 272 yards and a pair of touchdowns, but more importantly, made the OSU offense look halfway decent for the first time since September.

What's next:

A bye week, then Bedlam. OSU will head to Norman on Dec. 6 with one final chance to become bowl eligible. The Cowboys haven't missed the postseason since 2005 when they finished 4-7. OSU will need to bottle up Semaje Perine, who set the NCAA single-game rushing record with 427 yards against Kansas on Saturday.
