OHP: Suspect In Seminole County Manhunt Apprehended

A manhunt is underway for a shooting suspect Thursday afternoon in Seminole County, Oklahoma.

The suspect at the center of a manhunt in Seminole County has been apprehended, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirmed

The manhunt for the shooting suspect began Thursday afternoon, after authorities say the suspect opened fire on a deputy. The deputy was not hit. 

Another law enforcement agency told News 9 that the suspect broke into a home and opened fire on the homeowner. 

Authorities said the suspect bailed out of a car and headed for a tree line in the area. Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers assisted the Seminole County deputies with the manhunt.

The New Lima School in Wewoka, Oklahoma, was placed under a lockdown as a precaution. School officials told News 9 that an incident occurred at a house near the school.  The lockdown was lifted at about 3:30 p.m. 

Highway 270 remains shut down for the time being, between NS 3600 and NS 3610.
