Suspect Arrested After 3-Hour Police Standoff In Norman

A three hour standoff in Norman has ended after police took the suspect into custody Tuesday morning.

A three hour standoff in Norman has ended after police took the suspect into custody Tuesday morning.

It happened on Berry near Magnolia, not far from the OU campus. Norman police closed Berry Road between Magnolia Street and Imhoff Road during the standoff.

The standoff started around 3 a.m. Police said the man had an argument with his wife. She was not in the home when the standoff started.

According to police, the man did fire shots at some point. He also threatened to harm any officers who approach the house. 

Police said they were in the process of handing him a phone to communicate with a SWAT negotiator when they were able to take him into custody.

No one was injured during the incident. Police have not identified the man at this time.
