Not Again: Jones Leaves With Injury As Thunder Falls To Toronto

And another one gone, and another one gone…

Another one bit the dust for the Thunder on Tuesday night. Perry Jones, one of Oklahoma City's only remaining offensive threats, left the game with a right knee contusion as the Toronto Raptors pulled away and beat the Thunder 100-88.

The Thunder got Reggie Jackson back for Monday's game at Brooklyn, but lost starting shooting guard Andre Roberson to a left foot sprain. So OKC entered Tuesday with only eight available players; two point guards, five post players, and Jones.

Despite all that, they put up another great fight. They came out cooking in the first quarter and took a 30-23 lead after one. Toronto picked it up a bit in the second and pulled to within 52-51 at the break.

With Jones out, Toronto extended its lead in the third quarter with an 11-4 run. The Raptors took a three-point lead into the fourth and pulled away easily against an exhausted Thunder rotation.

Reggie Jackson scored 13 points and dished out a career-high 14 assists while playing most of the second half with what appeared to be a wrist injury along with a noticeable limp. Serge Ibaka played his best game of the young season, scoring 25 points on 11 of 14 shooting while grabbing 11 rebounds. Lance Thomas added 14 and five boards while Nick Collison and Sebastian Telfair each chipped in 11 points.

Telfair was ejected for smacking Raptors' forward Tyler Hansbrough in the face with a little more than a minute left in the game.

The Raptors used a balanced effort from their full roster. DeMar DeRozan led the way with 16 points while Patrick Patterson added 14 points and eight rebounds. Hansbrough grabbed seven boards to go with his 12 points.

Oklahoma City shot 52 percent from the floor while Toronto shot just 39.5 percent, but 19 turnovers eventually doomed the Thunder.

If there's any good news, it's that the Thunder (1-4) doesn't play again until Friday. They'll have a few days to adjust the roster and perhaps get some guys a little healthier. OKC is back home on Friday to host the Memphis Grizzlies.
