A third school district warns of meningitis after a case is reported at a Stillwater elementary school.

Stillwater Public Schools officials sent a letter to parents on Wednesday to inform them that a student at Highland Park Elementary was diagnosed with meningitis.

The letter from Stillwater Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Ann Caine and Highland Park Elementary Principal Kurt Baze read in part:

"While this can be upsetting, at this time the Oklahoma State Department of Health is not suspecting a disease that puts the general public; including students, teachers, and other employees at Highland Park Elementary, at risk. The Oklahoma State Department of Health is NOT recommending the use of antibiotics among close contacts, testing of close contacts, or intensive cleaning of the school areas.”

The letter also included a fact sheet about meningitis.

On Monday, Mustang Public Schools reported a sixth-grader was diagnosed with viral meningitis, and Bartlesville Schools has also reported a case.
