OKC Woman Found Guilty Of Negligent Homicide In Husband's Death, Not Murder

An Oklahoma City woman has been found guilty of negligent homicide in the death of her husband, but not guilty of murder.

Police said 51-year-old Lisa Robbins hit and killed her husband, 52-year-old Harry Robbins, with her pickup truck back in October, 2012. Lisa Robbins claimed she was not "aware" of driving over the victim, according to a probable cause affidavit.

On August 29, 2014, a jury found Robbins guilty of negligent homicide and recommended a sentence of one year in the county jail. She was also ordered to pay a $1,000 fine.

Robbins originally faced a first-degree murder charge. But the jury found her not guilty and acquitted her of that charge.

Robbins has already spent two years behind bars. The state asked for Robbins not to get credit for time served. Her defense attorney argued that she should get credit for her time served just like any other defendant.

A judge said the jury also found Robbins not guilty of the alternate charge of second-degree murder, so he sided with the defense and granted Robbins credit for time served.

Robbins' attorney Tony Coleman said Robbins and her husband had been in the middle of a domestic dispute. He said Robbins got in the car to leave, but Harry Robbins jumped on top of car, and then, Lisa Robbins was accused of hitting him with her car.
