Norman Police Offer Safety Tips During 'Door Hanger' Event

Norman Police and volunteers from the Citizens Police Academy teamed up Saturday for the Department's Fourth Annual Door Hanger Event.

Each year, the groups pick a different neighborhood to put up flyers with information related to home and traffic safety, and ways to protect your cars from thieves.

“Make sure they lock up all their valuables. Don't leave anything of value in your car at night. Make sure you lock your doors, and you know, maybe use some outdoor lighting and things like that,” Lt. Jamie Shattuck said.

They picked this year’s neighborhood based on a rash of recent car burglaries in the area.
