With the first day of school right around the corner, dozens of volunteers help to make the upcoming school year extra special for students at Briarwood Elementary School in Moore.

The school was destroyed in the May 20th tornado and has been under construction. Volunteers from Nike and the University of Oklahoma dedicated their time on Saturday to build a new playground for the school.

Briarwood students submitted ideas on how they wanted their playground to look like. They watched as more than 200 volunteers turn their dream into reality in a matter of hours.

The new playground wouldn’t be possible without donations. Nike donated $2 million after the May tornados. Part of that money was used to pay for the playground.
