Way was a four-year letterwinner on the Oklahoma State indoor and outdoor track & field teams as a competitor in the weight throw and hammer throw. She was named All-Big 12 twice in each event. She also excelled in the classroom as a four-time member of the Academic All-Big 12 First Team and two-time honoree on the USTFCCA All-Academic Team.

The physiology major graduated with a 4.00 grade point average and was named a 2014 Oklahoma State University Outstanding Senior as one of the top 0.5 percent of seniors at the institution. Way served as both vice-president and then president of FCA. She was also a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and the Pre-Optometry Student Association.

A native of Mitchell, S.D., Way also participated in many other community service activities, including work with Make-A-Wish Foundation, Harvest II Food Drive, The #14 Foundation, Riverside Indian School and the Cowboy Jamboree.

The award recognizes senior student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership. The top 10 honorees and the nine finalists from Divisions I, II and III will be honored, and the 2014 NCAA Woman of the Year winner announced at a dinner in Indianapolis on Oct. 19.

She is joined as a nominee by Bailey Webster from the University of Texas.
