An elderly metro man is severely beaten after a violent robbery inside his home last Friday night.

Joe Rischard, 78, says he was sleeping on his recliner when a group of men broke in. They demanded money and started hitting him with a gun. Oklahoma City police may be looking for as many as four men.

Rishcard remains in good spirits despite the severe cuts and bruises on his face.

"Feeling pretty good," said Rischard. "Could be better."

It was all, but good Friday night when the 78-year-old found himself in the middle of an armed robbery.

"Three of five guys come in here and jump me," said Rischard. "A guy that works for me; he found me in there lying in a puddle of blood."

Rischard told police he left his front door unlocked. He believes that's how the men made their way inside.

"Come up to me, stuck it in my face. Said do you got some money here? Get it out or we going to kill you," said Rischard. "I said, I ain't got no money. Someone hit me with a round pipe like across the head, but I bet that was my sawed off shot gun. He hit me with a pistol there, and knocked me in my head some."

The men ransacked Rischard's home.

According to the police report all the drawers were pulled out and emptied onto the floor. The safe in his bedroom was opened and emptied, and so were two of his vehicles outside.

Investigators say there was a trail of blood from Rischard's recliner in the living room, to the entrance of his bedroom.

"They was all over the place. There was one in my safe room, there was one in my bathroom, several of them out in the garage," said Rischard.

Rischard says he had no known enemies and didn't know of anyone who would want to hurt him. He's now offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who has information that will lead to an arrest.
