My 2 Cents: What To Do With The American Indian Cultural Center

Interesting, I was reading the Tulsa paper which had an editorial crediting the Legislature for not spending any more money on the American Indian Cultural Center on the Oklahoma River.

I get it. How's that museum going to benefit the people of Tulsa? I know a lot of people here feel that way too.

Once again lawmakers, specifically those in the House, refused to come up with $40 million more to finish the practically abandoned eyesore southeast of Bricktown.

They say they're going to keep trying, and I suspect eventually they would come up with something. But it may be time for Oklahoma City to step in and say, we want that land back that we gave to you specifically for the museum.

The City spent somewhere between $5 and $10 million cleaning up the old oilfield property, the land itself is estimated to be worth twice that. City leaders should set a deadline, sounds like they might be able to because the state isn't living up to its end of the deal.

If they can, they should say fund it in the next 12 months or OKC will take it over and sell the property and improvements to private investors and state taxpayers will be out the $67 million they've already invested in the project.

That'd be a shame in my opinion, but it's time to move or move on.
