The New Orleans Zephyrs scored five times with two outs while building a six-run lead and went on to defeat the Oklahoma City RedHawks, 6-2, Monday night at Zephyr Field.

With the loss, the RedHawks (24-21) have lost three straight games for just the second time this season. It's also the first time they've lost three straight on the road, and was their first loss in a road series opener.

New Orleans (20-24) took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning when Kyle Jensen hit a solo home run right-center field.

The Zephyrs used another home run to score three more times in the third inning. After having none on and two out, Jordany Valdespin and Josh Rodriguez each collected singles to keep the inning alive. Mark Canha stepped up next and hammered one out to left field to give the Zephrys a 4-0 lead.

A two-out throwing error by Kiké Hernandez brought home another run in the fifth. In the sixth, the Zephyrs again rallied for a run after having none on and two out. Jensen doubled, and Rob Brantly followed with an RBI single to make it 6-0.

The RedHawks were able to get on the board in the eighth inning. With two outs, Robbie Grossman hit a RBI double to score Oklahoma City's first run. After Zephyrs reliever Dan Jennings walked Domingo Santana to load the bases, he walked Jon Singleton to bring home another run.

Chaz Roe then replaced Jennings and struck out Gregorio Petit to end the inning. Roe would also retire the side in the ninth to earn his first save of the season.

Making his first start for New Orleans, Alex Sanabia threw five scoreless innings to earn the win. Sanabia (1-1) allowed three hits with no walks and five strikeouts.

After throwing seven scoreless innings in his first start this season with the RedHawks, Brett Oberholtzer had a tough night in his encore. Oberholtzer (1-1) allowed six runs (five earned) and nine hits over five innings, with three strikeouts and no walks. Of the nine hits Oberholtzer allowed, six came in an 0-2 or 1-2 count.

In two career starts at Zephyr Field, Oberholtzer has now allowed 13 runs and 21 hits, including seven home runs, over nine total innings.

The RedHawks will try and snap their three-game losing skid Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
