Police arrested a man after they caught him in the act burglarizing a northwest Oklahoma City home.
According to police, at about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, officers responded to the report of someone "casing" a neighborhood in the area of Lansbrook Lane and Arlington Drive. A resident told police that a man knocked on his door and said he was looking for his dog.
As officers patrolled the area, they saw the suspect's vehicle in the driveway of a home. A man, later identified as 18-year-old Jeffery Ervin, was seen running out the front door.
According to police, Ervin was holding a large caliber revolver, four white boxes and a brown container. When Ervin saw the police officers, he ran back into the house and tried to escape.
Officers located Ervin a short time later and took him into custody. They also recovered a watch, an iPad and a jewelry chest that Ervin reportedly stole from that home.
Ervin was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on charges of second-degree burglary and possession of a firearm in commission of a felony. He also had arrest warrants out of Oklahoma County for failure to appear on charges of first degree burglary and assault with a dangerous weapon, and assault and battery.
