Competency Trial Underway For Man Charged In Velma Teen's Death

Miles Bench, 22, is charged in the killing of 16-year-old Braylee Henry of Velma. Henry was found dead in a pasture in Velma in 2012.

Jury selection underway in Stephens County in a competency trial for 22-year-old Miles Bench.

Bench is charged in the killing of 16-year-old Braylee Henry of Velma. Henry was found dead in a pasture in Velma in 2012.

Prosecutors say Bench killed Henry after she stopped to buy gas at the Tee Pee Totem convenience store where Bench worked.

The state is seeking the death penalty. Bench has entered a not guilty plea in the case. His defense attorney asked for a trial to determine if he is competent to stand trial.
