OKLAHOMA CITY -- A ban on texting-while-driving in Oklahoma will have to wait.

With the issue dead for the session, AAA Oklahoma's Chuck Mai says the legislature has once again given its approval to texting-while-driving.

Mai says there is no organized opposition to the sort of law enacted in 43 other states, just a few lawmakers who want to text-and-drive while traveling to and from their district.

"It's just some key people thwarting this bill. I have to wonder how many lives they have to forfeit until they do the right thing and enforce the law," said Mai, Vice President of AAA Oklahoma.

Mai says he is not buying into the argument that mandating what drivers can and can't do is too invasive.

Studies indicate that the risk of a crash is 23 times worse for those texting-while-driving than for those who are not. May says a ban on it is a no-brainer.
