The Oklahoma City RedHawks decided the season-opener deserved a bit of drama on Thursday night. The drama almost cost them the game.

Jason Stoffel struck out Bryan Petersen with the bases loaded to give the RedHawks a thrilling, 7-6 win over Round Rock in 11 innings.

Stoffel had walked the previous batter to move the Express within a single run before striking out Petersen looking to end the game.

The RedHawks pounded out 15 hits for the game with two of those coming in the top of the 11th inning in the form of RBI singles from George Springer and Max Stassi to give OKC its first lead of the game.

Josh Zied picked up the win for the RedHawks with Stoffel grabbing the save. Cory Burns took the loss for the Express.

Zied preserved the RedHawks' chances of stealing a win in the ninth inning. After an intentional walk to load the bases, Zied entered the game for Mike Foltynewicz and got a strikeout and fly out to end the threat and send the game to extra innings.

Before the late-inning heroics, all the scoring came in a one-inning stretch early in the game. In the bottom of the second, the Express put up five runs, including a grand slam from Petersen. OKC responded right away in the top of the third inning as Adron Chambers hit a three-run homer followed by an RBI groundout from Stassi and an RBI single from Domingo Santana.

Chambers left the game in the fourth inning after coming up lame while getting caught stealing.

The RedHawks had plenty of opportunities to end the game earlier, but went 4-for-13 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.

The two teams are back in action on Friday night at 7:05 p.m.
