Davis, OK Principal Named Oklahoma High School Principal Of The Year
DAVIS, Oklahoma - Rodney Maynard, Principal at Davis High School in Davis, has been named the 2015 National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) Oklahoma High School Principal of the Year by the Oklahoma Association of Secondary School Principals (OASSP).
Maynard has been the Principal at Davis High School for the past five years, and also serves as Davis Public Schools' Athletic Director.
Under Maynard's direction, Davis High School has been a GEAR UP school for the past ten years, allowing for extra opportunities to instill academic success in all students. Mr. Maynard works with each student to develop their class schedule and make a personal track to graduation, including college preparedness curriculum so that they can continue their education beyond high school. His remediation efforts include teaching math during the summer and providing before and after school Algebra tutoring,
Maynard holds monthly student assemblies to recognize Outstanding Students and Teachers of the Month, and has partnered with businesses to ensure that the winners receive gift cards and framed certificates. Mr. Maynard writes a personal note of encouragement to every student at Davis High School at some point during each school year.
Upon learning of this award, Mr. Maynard said, "I am very surprised and extremely humbled by this honor. This recognition is because of an outstanding faculty that I have had the privilege of working with each and every day. And this award also belongs to the wonderful students of Davis High School who bless my socks off! I am so blessed to be their principal. I truly share this honor with all those in my building and with the great community of Davis, Oklahoma."

As the Oklahoma High School Principal of the Year, Mr. Maynard is now eligible for the NASSP National Principal of the Year Award. State Principals of the Year participate in the NASSP State Principals of the Year Institute to be held September 17-19 in Washington, DC.
Maynard was selected by a committee of former recipients of the Oklahoma award and will be honored by colleagues from the Oklahoma Association of Secondary School Principals at the CCOSA Summer Conference, June 5-6 at the Embassy Suites in Norman. OASSP is under the umbrella of the Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School Administration. CCOSA is an incorporated, non-profit organization serving over 2800 Oklahoma superintendents, assistant superintendents, principals, special education directors, and central office administrators.
