OU Softball Wins Wild Game Against Lafayette

A back-and-forth affair went the Sooners' way on Friday as Oklahoma defeated Louisiana-Lafayette, 13-5.

No. 13 Oklahoma (18-6) led wire-to-wire and picked up its third win over a ranked team this season by defeating the No. 23 Ragin' Cajuns (15-6-1), 13-5, Friday night at Lamson Park in Lafayette, La.

Sophomores Erin Miller and Whitney Ellis each drove in three runs in the win. Miller was 2-4 with two runs scored and a walk, while Ellis was 2-3 with two runs scored and a walk. Ellis hit a solo home run, her seventh of the year, to lead off the sixth inning.

Junior Georgia Casey tied a career high in hits by going 3-4 and also matched a personal best with three runs scored.

Junior Shelby Pendley was 1-3 with a run scored, extending her current hit streak to a season-best eight games and leaving her one off her career high of nine straight games with a hit.

Sophomore Kelsey Stevens improved to 12-3 with the win. She struck out seven batters as she won her fifth consecutive start.
