The mystery behind missing NSU student Stephen Adams continues in Cherokee County Friday. Adams disappeared in 2004.

New leads have led investigators to a possible location in a field near Keys where his body might be.

On Thursday crews used penetrating radars to see if Stephen Adams body was buried in a rural area of Cherokee County.

Friday, those same crews excavated an area marked off the day before.

A geologist told News On 6 they have dug about three feet deep right now, but they don't believe the ground has been disturbed too far below that area.

Since Adams disappeared in 2004, there have been a number of theories of what happened to him. Investigators believe he was killed in another location then his body was buried on rural land near Keys.

If they don't find anything in the area they're were digging in Friday morning, then they will search another area that was also taped off Thursday.
