For the past day I've been trying to wrap my head around the story of an 18-year-old who moved out of her parents' home and now expects them to support her.

Rachel Canning wants her parents to continue to pay for her private high school so she can graduate, pay her living and transportation expenses, future college costs, and oh yeah, she expects them to pay her legal expenses because she's suing them for all of that.

Back in October, her parents told her to stop drinking and breaking curfew, stop being disrespectful to us, and oh your boyfriend is trouble. Basically, our roof our rules. She didn't like all that so she moved out, and moved in with a classmate's family, which is now paying for her lawsuit.

I hope it costs them a bundle. What kind of bonehead adults would pay for her to sue her parents?

Talk about enabling the entitled. This kid is a spoiled brat, if her private school wants to carry her until graduation, that's up to them. But the parents shouldn't be required to give her a penny. She needs to get out, go to work, and get a cold hard look at the real world.

Mom and Dad probably bear some responsibility for her behavior, but ultimately kids make their own choices and they need to deal with the consequences of them. The judge in the case seems to get that, but it goes back to court next month.
