‘Flappy Bird' flaps no more! The wildly popular mobile game app has gone the way of the Dodo, after its creator, Dong Nguyen, pulled the plug on Sunday.

Nguyen announced his intentions to do away with the game via Twitter, saying rather cryptically "I just cannot take this anymore".

The game was addictively simple and extremely frustrating: tapping your phone's touch screen to keep a tiny yellow bird aloft, as you try navigate through a maze of green pipes of different heights.

If you've downloaded the game already, you'll still be able to play it… for now. If you haven't though, you're out of luck. Nguyen has removed the game from both Apple and Android app stores.

Since the game's creation in May 2013, it's been downloaded over 50 million times.
