A cold front is moving through the state today; behind it look for strong north winds and highs a little colder than yesterday back in the lower 30s. Wind chills will stay in the teens and lower 20s all day long. We'll have full sunshine again, so there will be more melting.
A slow warming trend is on the way this week, but overnight lows will continue to drop back below freezing. This cycle of melting and refreezing will continue to cause slick spots on the roadways.
Early Friday morning, another storm system will move in. This will bring us a chance for light freezing rain until mid-morning Friday when temperatures climb above freezing. This does not look like a major ice event, but it doesn't take very much ice to cause travel problems. Highs will be in the mid 40s on Friday, so roads will quickly improve.
