Oklahoma Wins Fourth Straight, Tops West Virginia In Four Sets

The OU volleyball team defeated West Virginia, 3-1, Wednesday night, their fourth straight conference win.

The University of Oklahoma volleyball team came away with a 3-1 win over West Virginia for its fourth consecutive win on Wednesday evening. The Sooners lifted their record to 22-7 overall and 10-5 in the Big 12, while the Mountaineers fell to 19-13 and 5-11.

Oklahoma took the first two sets by scores of 25-15 and 25-15. West Virginia forced a fourth set by winning the third, 25-19. In the fourth, the Sooners claimed the match with a 25-20 victory.

Senior middle blocker Sallie McLaurin totaled a match-high 19 kills and hit .400 with three blocks. McLaurin lifted her career total to 1,309 kills and currently trails former teammate Suzy Boulavsky by 22 kills for seventh in OU history.

Senior Keila Rodriguez and sophomore Kierra Holst also reached double figures with 13 and 10 respectively. Rodriguez hit .357 to go with eight digs.

The Mountaineers racked up double digits in kills, led by Hannah Sackett with 13.

Sophomore setter Julia Doyle dished out 47 assists and collected seven digs. She has reached the 40-assist mark in nine matches this season.

Sophomore libero Taylor Migliazzo led the Sooners with 15 digs. Senior defensive specialist Eden Williams chipped in with a 10-dig effort. Anna Panagiotakopoulos led all players with 18 digs for West Virginia.

Oklahoma, which has won 20 matches or more since 2007, matched its win total from 2012 with 22, tying the third highest total in the Santiago Restrepo era.

The Sooners are 5-0 all-time against the Mountaineers and 7-1 in four-set matches this season.

Oklahoma returns to action for its regular season finale on Saturday, November 30 at 7:00 pm when the Sooners take on Kansas at McCasland Field House.
