They always say it's never over until the final buzzer sounds.

The Oklahoma men's basketball team proved that Friday night, closing with a 7-0 run in the last 31 seconds to stun Seton Hall, 86-85 in the opening game of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Seton Hall's Sterling Gibbs hit 1-of-2 free throws with 43 seconds left to give Seton Hall an 85-79 lead. After a Buddy Hield 3-point miss, Cameron Clark rebounded the miss and scored to cut the deficit to four. Jordan Woodard then stole the inbounds pass and gave it to Clark who scored again to make the score 85-83.

Seton Hall inbounded the ball, but Gibbs mishandled a pass, allowing Woodard to swoop in for the steal. Woodard was fouled and went to the free throw line. Woodard hit the first but missed the second. A scrum ensued with Oklahoma winning possession on a jump ball.

Clark missed a jump shot, but Hield came down with the rebound and was fouled with 9.3 seconds left. He made both, putting the Sooners up, 86-85. Seton Hall had a chance to win, but Jaren Sina lost control of the ball and Brian Oliver was forced to hoist a desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer that missed everything.

The Sooners advance to take on the winner of Michigan State and Virginia Tech on Saturday.

Oklahoma trailed by as many as 11 in the second half after shooting 63 percent in the first half. The Sooners trailed, 63-52 with 10:35 remaining in the game before chipping away at the Pirates' lead.

Clark led the Sooners with 20 points and also added nine rebounds. Isaiah Cousins made a triumphant return to his home state of New York, scoring 19 points on 7-of-8 shooting, including 3-of-3 from 3-point range. Cousins probably would've scored more, but was hampered by foul trouble throughout the night. He scored 10 points in the first 10 minutes to help stake OU to a 27-18 lead with 9:39 remaining in the first half.

Hield added 13 points for OU while Woodard chipped in 12.

Gibbs led five Seton Hall players in double figures with 26 points. He hit 17-of-20 from the free throw line, part of the Pirates' 22-of-24 second half showing that helped them build a big lead on the Sooners.

Oliver came off the bench to score 19 points, while Fuquan Edwin had 12 points. Gene Teague and Brandon Mobley each had 10 points.

The Sooners fell behind in the second half thanks to turnovers, fouls and a field goal drought that spanned 6:55 of game action. Woodard scored on a layup 41 seconds into the second half and the Sooners wouldn't hit another field goal until Cousins hit a layup at the 12:24 mark. During that time, Seton Hall went on an 18-4 run to take a 61-50 lead.
