The Oklahoma State women&#39;s basketball team hammered East Central in exhibition play on Tuesday night.<br />

Oklahoma State's women's basketball team got a strong second-half offensive performance en route to an 87-56 win over East Central on Tuesday night in its exhibition opener in front of 1,657 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.

In the first half, the Cowgirls were unable to take advantage of 14 turnovers by the Lady Tigers after shooting just 34.5 percent from the floor. Additionally, OSU hit just 59 percent of its free throws in the period and led 33-25 at the break.

The Cowgirls used a 15-4 spurt to start the second half and push the margin into double digits for good. For the half, OSU hit 67 percent of its shots, including a 4-of-8 effort from beyond the 3-point arc, to pull away.

OSU's Tiffany Bias led all scorers with 18 points in the contest and also dished out a team-high five assists and a game-high three steals. The senior was one of five Cowgirls to score in double figures on the night.

Making her debut after redshirting last season, Brittany Atkins poured in 16 points in 25 minutes on a 5-of-9 shooting performance and added six rebounds.

Junior Liz Donohoe chipped in with 14 points, junior LaShawn Jones added 12 and freshman Roshunda Johnson came off the bench to hit five of her six shot attempts while scoring 11 points.

All 13 Cowgirls suited up, including nine making their OSU debuts, saw action on the night.

The Cowgirls will close out their exhibition slate on Nov. 4 when they host Northeastern State at 7 p.m.
