Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook is ahead of schedule in his recovery and could potentially return to the Thunder lineup within the next two weeks.
Westbrook underwent a second knee operation in early October and the Thunder organization originally announced the All-Star would miss the first 6-8 weeks of the regular season. However, Wojnarowski is crediting league sources with information signaling Westbrook is going to be back sooner rather than later.
Westbrook has reportedly impressed team officials with his progress after returning to Thunder practice.
Obviously, a healthy Westbrook returning in two weeks would greatly benefit the Thunder, especially if his comeback predated a tough road trip at the Clippers, Warriors and Bucks, but just because he can return in two weeks doesn't mean he will.
The Thunder could still play it safe and wait 4-6 weeks to guarantee his health in an attempt to avoid a Derrick Rose-type situation from happening.
