The toll road authorities in Oklahoma and north Texas are working on resolutions that would allow drivers to use toll passes in both states.

On Wednesday, the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) passed a resolution at its monthly board meeting that allows Texas drivers to use their TollTags on 10 turnpikes in Oklahoma, and Oklahoma drivers to use their Pikepasses in the Dallas-Fort Worth Area.

The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority is expected to pass a similar resolution at its monthly board meeting on October 31.

If the OTA passes the resolution, the changes will likely be implemented by late 2014, and that's when customers could begin using their tags on either state's roads.

"This will be a tremendous convenience for motorists who travel between the two states and routinely take toll roads, both here in Oklahoma and in the Dallas area," said Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin. "I encourage the Turnpike Authority Board to approve the item authorizing this agreement at their next scheduled meeting."

NTTA operates three toll roads in the Dallas Metroplex: the Dallas North Tollway, George Bush Turnpike and the Sam Rayburn Tollway.
