Del City Police have successfully apprehended a suspect who fled while officers were attempting to serve him a warrant, Wednesday afternoon.

Police were attempting to serve two felony burglary warrants to a man named Justin Lawthorn, who was at a home in the 4000 block of SE 29th St., near Sunnylane Rd., when a second man in the home took off on foot.

K9 units were called in to assist in the manhunt, that lasted approximately 50 minutes.

At this time police tell News 9 the suspect who fled did not have a warrant out for his arrest. They say they do not know why he ran, and he is not cooperating with investigators at this time.

Destiny Christian Center and Epperly Heights Elementary School were both placed on lockdown while officers searched for the suspect. Both lockdowns have been lifted.

Police have not released the identity of the suspect who fled.
