Both the Cowboys and Sooners are creeping up in the national rankings after 2-0 starts.

OSU inched forward a spot in the AP Poll to No. 12 following a 56-35 win against UTSA in San Antonio.

OU moved up two spots to No. 14 in large part to Week 2 losers Notre Dame and Texas, who previously held the No. 14 and No. 15 spots. Notre Dame fell to No. 21 after losing to 17th ranked Michigan and Texas dropped out of the rankings and dropped defensive coordinator Manny Diaz following a 40-21 thrashing from unranked BYU.

The Wolverines' win against the Irish propelled them past OSU and OU to No. 11. It would have been the largest bump in the AP Poll this week if not for the Miami Hurricanes spurt from unranked to No. 15. The ‘Canes beat then No. 12 Florida 21-16. The Gators dropped to No. 18.

Baylor moved up a spot to No. 22 and No. 24 TCU stayed put. USC, ranked 25th a week ago, bowed out of the polls after losing 10-7 at home to Washington State. Ole Miss took the Trojans place this week.

In the Coaches' Poll, the Cowboys moved up three spots to No. 11 and the Sooners jumped two spots to No. 13.

Previously unranked Baylor moved to No. 22 and just like in the AP Poll, TCU remained at No. 24.

OU takes on Tulsa at 11 a.m. on Saturday and OSU gets Lamar for a home opener at 6:30 p.m.
